I am pleased to introduce you to Access Christian Counseling. I know that your time precious to God and valuable regarding the work of the Gospel. Thank you for taking a moment, I am confident that you will be blessed as you do so
Enclosed you will find a brochure which describes the ministry and a small professional bio. My prayer is that this ministry may augment yours as you endeavor to pastor your congregation and reach your community with the Love of Christ.
Upon returning from a pioneering mission work in the oppressed lands of Communist Eastern Europe, in 1983, I was in need of some rest and recovery and inflicted with a holy disturbance. The question that ached deeply in my soul was “Is Jesus really enough?” I had been laboring in a spiritually war-torn land and had witnessed many casualties and taken many “hits” of my own. I saw several ministry partners’ lives, families, and marriages coming apart. I witnessed the devastation of the enemy’s work upon ministry teams as back biting turned into all out war between former allies of the Gospel. My question was born out of the simple reflection that if what we are trying to give others, the answer to all of life’s deepest needs, Jesus, then why is He not enough for us?
My quest continued into my graduate studies. As I pursued Biblical answers to my questions I myself experienced deeply needed revival. I realized that I, myself, needed to update the Gospel in my own life and began to meet Jesus as a sinner in need of much Grace. Counseling, as a career, never entered my mind before then. I’m not even sure I really believed in “Counseling.” My calling in ministry was as a missionary, to take Christ to the uttermost. I soon became a recovering Christian “Pharisee.” What I began to learn was that I desperately need(ed) Jesus everyday, and that whatever context in life I faced, by God’s Grace, I could find Christ as my source in every need. I learned that indeed Jesus is enough! We just need “more” of Him in our lives. This became the basis of my current work as a Christian Counselor.
Enabled by God’s new work, I now believe that my job and calling is to contextualize the Gospel (as every good missionary must do) through the varied circumstances and challenges that face each of us. Sometimes Christian Counseling is simply remedial discipleship; some times it works more like life coaching, sometimes through suffering and pain, sometimes through upgrading of skills and enhanced training or needed encouragement. Through which-ever venue manifests itself we can learn how to get more of Christ. God has graciously provided the Biblical, Theological, and clinical skills to enable this work. And, I would be humbled to be considered your partner in our work for His Kingdom.
If I can be of any further assistance to you or to the sheep under your stewardship please feel free to call on us. I would love to stop by and meet some time. And, I want to offer you a
special treat! I would be thrilled to provide you a confidential Biblical leadership profile assessment free of charge. You may employ it anyway you please, for personal inspiration, insight, and/or enrichment. If you don’t mind I will be calling on you soon.
Yours, for the Kingdom work,
R. Jeffrey Stull, D.Min., Ph.D., LCCP, LMHC
